Father of U.S. Citizen Active Duty Soldier Is Being Deported

Altereith Sherman Evan Smith (A# 078-442-296) has been in the U.S. for over 15 years. He is a hard working hotel worker and father to 3 U.S. citizens, one who is in active duty in the military stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

On April 30th at 7:30am, ICE, posing as Sheriff’s, entered his home in the city of Stanton and took him into custody. He was held in the Santa Ana Field office but transfered to Adelanto Detention Center.

Mr. Smith is a Belize national and volunteer in the young Marine’s program where his two U.S. citizen children are enrolled. He is a dedicated father and loving husband. He even graduated from the International School of Ministry with a diploma of Biblical Studies.

In 2003, Mr. Smith was deported and he came back to reunite with his family. His love made him sacrifice his life to re-enter the country again so he can be in the place he calls home and where his children were born. He also has one U.S. citizen brother and a Legal Permanent resident sister.

Last year the Obama Administration implemented an immigration relief program where undocumented family members of military personnel can qualify for Parole In Place. If his son is sacrificing his life for this country, why is the Obama Administration trying to deport him.

We need to demand that he is immediately released and granted Parole In Place as his son is in active duty in the military.
